And what would you think of the statement, "I have absolutely no problem with every soldier in the IDF being wiped off the face of the earth?" I assume you would find it extremist, shocking, a denial of the humanity of the men in the helmets. But why wouldn't any Gazan, or Palestinian in the West Bank for that matter, feel exactly that way? Wouldn't you if you were being decimated so brutally?
I have no affection for Hamas, believe me, and can't justify anything done on October 7th. But there is definitely a jarring double standard. There is a 10-1 ratio of Palestinians dead at Israeli hands compared to the inverse for the past 50 years. Thousands of cases of unprosecuted torture in Israeli prisons. Why is it "terrorism" when Hamas does it but "self-defense" when Israel does it?
We were shocked by the face-to-face brutality of Hamas on October 7th but the pulverizing of Gaza is no less brutal just because it is largely done from the sky. Ask any Palestinian holding the lifeless body of her two-year old.
What the bloodthirsty Israeli public is too brainwashed to understand is that Israel was "prevenged" of the atrocities of Oct 7th. Instead, they have made sure the 10-1 ratio was re-established, just in case it's not fully understood the Israeli pain is 10 times worse than Palestinian pain. And they wonder how anyone could feel so much anger at their diminishment that they could get to the point of blowing themselves up on a bus.
