meaning less

there’s plenty of rhyme
to go around,
though time’s in short supply.
words are in season
meaning, less so.
right not easily seen
when light is shed so lightly.
reason unravels
if it travels too far,
like a spark
to a star,
intact no more
when summer falls
and winter springs.
thoughts think they know it all.
neurons on fire
dazzle with warmth
but embers think no more.
a hidden heart
hides the pain
from prying eyes,
but the hider feels the same.
a love that’s blind
needs the dark
to leave its mark.
out of sight
out of my mind
the lingered song
of gone everafters.
the circle of life
as a cul de sac.
