I do wish screenwriters would stop doing alcoholism so literally. Yes, when close to bottom, many alcoholics may start drinking in the morning, but the kind of all-day consumption of small Absolut bottles by “high-functioning,” alcoholics with demanding jobs tries way too hard to make a point. (Leaving Las Vegas gets a pass, because it IS the point that he is intentionally drinking himself to death — and he does.)
