A (not so) Modest Proposal

(this will make sense when you read the last paragraph)

I have a theory about what to do about Trump, and it’s a doozy, but bear with me through the first seven paragraphs of this piece before I lay it out in glorious specificity. I can’t say this preamble covers anything you don’t already know, but restating some facts about the psychology of the Orange One is an essential predicate to my proposed strategy.

Trump is the most insecure man in the world. He craves attention and approval to a degree that can only be described as mind-boggling. He also has no genuine political ideology, just pretends to believe what he thinks will get him into power and keep him there. He gamed the electoral college to gain the Presidency the first time, but it grated on him that he lost the popular vote by three million. His intention was to have such a successful administration that he would be re-elected in a landslide, but between the investigations and scandals, the first impeachment, and COVID, in 2020 he was instead roundly bested in the Electoral College and lost the popular vote by seven million. This wounded his ego so deeply that he could only call the election stolen, and did what he always has done that is the secret to his success. He tells a lie, and then it becomes true in his mind simply because he’s the one telling it. This rock-ribbed belief…
